Arne Slot Insists He Feels Secure and Has Liverpool's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Loss

Arne Slot admitted that it was understandable for concerns to be asked about his future after another heavy loss versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds endured their 9th loss in twelve games, marking the club's poorest run since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Dutch league champions on a difficult night at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I'm fine, I've received a lot of backing from the top,” Slot remarked.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and get a victory of course but if you are coaching a team and underperforming then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I am OK with my role. It is not the first time I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Talks with Club Management

When asked to provide details on his dialogues with the club's leadership, the head coach said:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive to the team and for me and those talks happen but they don't phone me every single minute each day to say they trust me.”

He mentioned, “In the normal exchanges I perceive the confidence. However I haven’t spoken to them since this game yet so we'll see.”

Recurring Failings and Player Reaction

Slot highlighted recurring shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, namely wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was blunter in his view of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the answers. Frankly, I do not. I’m saying that to all,” the midfielder remarked.

“It is not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to consider it. I'm beyond being angry inside. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the words.”

He continued, “It's tough because I’m playing for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I've watched this club since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team enduring a spell such as this with outcomes so bad.”

Jones finished, “But we continue to wear that badge on our chest. And until it is removed, we will always compete.”

“Our aim is to bring this squad back to its rightful place, demonstrate to all again what this club is about and the reason it's called the top club in the planet.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
